Sources and methodology
Where the facts come from
I use primary sources first and say which source each article relies on. The main ones:
- The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU) of Dominica: investment options, real estate and fees, frequently asked questions, the 2026 Application Process Guide and the CBIU website.
- The Government of Dominica: the Budget Address of 4 August 2026 on the 30-day presence rule, the Prime Minister's announcement of June 2026 and the law on the regional regulator ECCIRA.
- Practice notes, budgets and comparisons published by BRIDGES on its page about Dominica citizenship and its articles on costs, documents, timelines, the family, visa-free travel, the passport index and Dominica versus St Kitts.
Sources by article
- The complete guide: CBIU investment options and FAQ; 2026 Application Process Guide; Budget Address 2026; BRIDGES programme page.
- Costs and fees: CBIU real estate and fee page; CBIU investment options; BRIDGES articles on costs and real estate.
- Application process and documents: CBIU FAQ and 2026 Application Process Guide; BRIDGES articles on documents and timelines.
- The family: CBIU definition of dependants; CBIU fee page; BRIDGES article on the family.
- The passport and visa-free travel: CBIU FAQ; BRIDGES passport index and visa-free article; Budget Address 2026.
- Dominica and other Caribbean programmes: CBIU fee page; BRIDGES programme page and comparisons with St Kitts and St Lucia.
How I check and date information
- Each article shows an "Updated" date. It changes only when the facts are reviewed, not for cosmetic edits.
- Fees and thresholds are quoted as the CBIU publishes them, and figures from BRIDGES are labelled as such.
- Where sources differ, I show both and follow the official text. Example: the CBIU says approval in principle generally takes at least 3 months, while BRIDGES plans 8 to 10 months from the start of document collection to the passport in 2026.
- Announced but not yet applied rules, such as the 30-day presence requirement, are described as announced, with the date of the official statement.
How often the guides are updated
All articles are reviewed at least once a quarter, and immediately after the CBIU or the government changes the rules. I watch three topics most closely: the start of the 30-day presence rule, the fee schedule and the European Commission deadline of 1 June 2028 for the Schengen visa waiver.
