Families rarely choose Dominica in isolation. They compare it with St Kitts, Grenada, Antigua and St Lucia, and the differences are real. The table below uses BRIDGES data from its Dominica programme page and the official CBIU fees, as of October 2026.

Where Dominica wins

Price. The lowest Caribbean minimum, and the EDF covers a family of four for $250,000 according to the CBIU fee schedule published by BRIDGES.

Short holding period. Real estate must be held only 3 years, the shortest in the region.

Family rules. Children up to 30 in education, unmarried daughters under 25 and parents over 65 can be included, and a child born later can be added without time limit.

Long track record. The programme has run since 1993.

Where others win

The UK. St Kitts, Grenada and Antigua give visa-free access to the UK with an ETA. Dominica does not.

The US E-2 visa. Only Grenada has an E-2 investor treaty with the United States. Dominica does not.

Siblings. Grenada allows unmarried siblings as dependants. Dominica’s official list does not include them.

St Lucia

BRIDGES compares Dominica and St Lucia in a separate article. For one person Dominica is cheaper: $200,000 against $240,000 to the St Lucia fund. But the St Lucia $240,000 already covers a family with up to three dependants, so for a family of four the gap almost disappears ($250,000 in Dominica). St Lucia also offers government bonds of $300,000 held for five years, which you get back, while Dominica real estate starts lower, at $200,000. Both take roughly 4 to 9 months with a clean file, according to that BRIDGES comparison, and St Lucia is also on the EU list of 25 June 2026.

Shared risks

All five Eastern Caribbean programmes received the European Commission letter of 25 June 2026 asking them to wind down by 1 June 2028. All five are part of the regional agreement that created the ECCIRA regulator, and Dominica has already announced a 30-day presence requirement within five years in its Budget Address of 4 August 2026. None of the five is safer than the others on these points.
